What's your song?

So, I've decided to join a fellow blogger Jane and start doing this idea every Thursday that she got from Goodnight Moon.

So here I go, what's your song Thursday #1
I don't know why, put these 2 songs (yes, I'm a rebel and naming 2) have been stuck in my head and I've been searching my XM radio like crazy hoping I'll just stumble on them.

Martin Solveig "Hello"

Florence & The Machine "Dog Days are Over"

They're both just so darn catchy, I'm constantly finding myself singing them.

Baking

So apparently my cookies from my last post were such a hit, that my dad requested me make some for his people at work while I was in VA last weekend.  So, I complied (after all I do stay there & let Saige and Reese terrorize them), I made white cake mix cookies with M&Ms.  The first batch we didn't experiment with too much, BIG. MISTAKE.  They were good, just a little too cakey/doughy tasting.  The second batch we added 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, mini chocolate chips, & M&Ms in the batter... SO. MUCH. BETTER.

Anywho, so we spent 5 days in VA & did a lot of nothing.  Visited with family, ate fast food, & I learned how to sew.  I have been wanting to make pillow case dresses & my Grammy taught me.  I thought they were easy enough & I'd like to have a hobby, so maybe they'll take off & I can make some money off of them?!

Fudgey chocolate cake cookies & vanilla buttercream frosting

THEY.ARE.HEAVENLY!

I made the cake mix like directed on the box (nix the water) and rolled them into teaspoon sized dough balls.  I put them in the oven at 350* and baked for 10 minutes (perfection).  After they were good & cool I iced them and then dipped half in chocolate sprinkles.  If I wasn't being lazy I would put a picture up, but I may come back and edit to do so.

My family is going to think I'm trying to make them fat.  Every time I come into town I bring dessert, last time was oreo balls, I can't remember the time before that.  The truth is, I come to my parents, stay at their house (with Saige and Reese, and sometimes Cam), eat their food, and they help with the baby & dog... I feel like I can come bearing gifts!  I do at least try to cook and help clean up while I'm there.

Anywho, I'm going to bed to dream of my delicious cookies.

With rumbles of thunder outside...

I figure since its storming outside and the lights keep flickering and the cable box isn't being so loyal, its the perfect time to blog.  Its been so long & I feel like I've neglected my few readers (forgive me?), so even if its just to announce that "I'm alive and have nothing to say" I'll be blogging at least 2 times a week.

So, my sweet tiny (well, sorta) baby bird is sleeping (thank goodness) I am planning out some final details of her 1st birthday party and a new nap & bedtime routine.  The child is terrible, no let me correct that HORRIBLE to get to sleep (at night and nap).  She's too nosey for her own good and for mine, so that leads to fighting against sleep and not staying asleep.  When she does nap, its about 30min two times a day & her night sleeps used to be good but I don't know what happened.  I guess I should be flattered that she wants to be awake and play and spend her time with me, I am really... but I am much, MUCH more pleasant after sleep (and lets be honest Saige is too).  So after talking with some friends facing some of the same issues, I think I've got some good ideas to try.

At 8 months old, you may be thinking "why are you planning her 1st birthday already?".  Already?  I'm late!  I had an idea that I thought I was going to go with and started looking into things at about 6months, but changed my mind... so here I start, late, at 8 months perfecting EVERY detail.  After all, you only turn 1 once.  I am currently looking at how I want to do her smash cake, then her birthday cake, then the birthday cake for everyone else to eat... SO. MANY. IDEAS.  I'm going to be doing a Nursery Rhyme theme birthday, I'm going to focus on many of the different rhymes instead of just one or two.  Saige loves listening to the different rhymes and laughs so hard at me making the noises.  I guess it is quite funny.

You may notice that I mentioned Saige is 8 months old, yes its trues.  She is growing way too fast, I love every minute of watching her grow & develop into this little person, but I'm sad at how fast the time is flying.  She's doing deep belly laughs, and they're not so hard to coax out of her.  She's not much on the "mommy velcro stage" (thank goodness, because I'm a touch-me-not), but she has her moments.  She can sit herself back up from her back, although she's showing no interest in getting up on all fours or pulling herself up to a stand or onto her knees.  I would love to get her into a playgroup, but don't really see any around here, so for now her water class will have to do.  She loves her swim class, and loves the water.  She doesn't mind floating, swishing, blowing bubbles, or being put underwater!  I'm thrilled and so is Cam (he loves the water).

Anywho, I'm about to settle down for the evening and listen to the storm move through, until later my readers.
