Thank You Oprah

I'm writing my blog in honor of Oprah's favorite things episode.  People, this is her last season, so this will be one of the last favorites giveaway.  Thats right, Monday & Tuesday will show her Ultimate favorites 1 & 2 respectively, so we still have some time to dream & add a few things to our Christmas wishlists!  I am quite saddened by the fact that Oprah's talk show is going off the air and I never got tickets to a favorite thing giveaway episode, it was a life goal of mine.  So, here I go:

1. My Nikon D40 DSLR with 18-55mm lens.  Yes I'm aware that is the standard lens, I am looking into fancy lenses for my camera.

2.  My Nikon FM10, with standard lens.  This is my 35mm camera, although I've yet to use it (just got it in Sept), I'm not unfamiliar with this camera & the work it can produce.  I have to order some B&W film & get busy!

3.  Netflix.  That is right, I listed Netflix (& wouldn't you know, Oprah shares this sentiment!).  I mean, you pay a low monthly price & you get movies delivered to your home & you can stream them to your TV or computer.

4.  Blackberry Curve 8520.  While the Blackberry Storm I used to have was better than this little number, I still can't help but love it.  I mean its my technology go-to, internet, text messaging, phone calls, gps, alarm clock, camera, & feeding tracker all-in-one, whats not to love?

5.  Macbook.  Yes, 13" of white Apple material!  I loathe Windows, so of course this is on my favorites list.  I'm very unsure of how someone could hate Apple and all their genius.  I love them so much that I just know I'm going to get another macbook, perhaps a macbook pro, and while I'm at it why not indulge in an iMac?

6.  Shoes.  I don't discriminate against shoes, I love them all equally as long as they're cute!  I am a little partial to flip flops (of the Old Navy persuasion), my Puma speed cats, Sperry has stolen a place in my heart as well.  I have a closet full of shoes and feel no where near complete, my husband hates that small bit of information. ** There are too many shoes to share pictures**

7.  Movies.  Yes multiples.  I think everyone should watch "Steel Magnolias", "Fried Green Tomatoes", "My Cousin Vinny", "Grease", "Breakfast Club", "Shrek (1-3)", "Ice Age (1-3)", and "Alice in Wonderland (Disney animation version)" at least twice.

8.  My Ipods.  Plural, I have 2, a cute pink Ipod nano and a black/gray Classic.  Both are filled with a variety of music and used regularly.  I'm thinking of donating my nano to Saige, she needs to learn to love all sorts of music early.

Thank you for educating yourself in my favorite things, my next blog(s) will quite possibly contain my favorite things non-material possessions, and my "would like to have one day" favorites!

Neglect

I've been a busy busy woman lately, and because of this I've neglected my blog.  I didn't mean to let this collect dust, but such goes life.  My baby girl is a month old, time sure flies when you're having fun.  I can't believe how much she's already grown & changed in appearance.  She's got the sweetest smile; however, she's quick & I can't seem to catch it on camera.  She loves to sit up and look around, make faces with you or roll from side to side on the floor "exploring".  She loves to sleep with music on, I don't know how she feels about most music because she listens to classical/piano versions of lullabies most of the time.  In my car when we go somewhere she listens to everything from 50cent to Kelly Clarkson to Lady Gaga to Brad Paisley.  She'll be well rounded in the music department just like her momma.  This week I am tracking her eating/sleeping/awake times to help me put her on a schedule and get some organization to her life.  I'm hoping this will help her not fight sleep so much at night time... the girl wins every time.

Cam is back to work full-time, been back since Halloween.  Its long hours & a lot of nonsense if you ask him... I know that all can't be true, they've got to be busy doing something productive.  Anywho, so when he gets home we spend about 2-3 hours together until he goes to bed in preparation for the next day.  Sometimes those few hours are spent with him doing more stuff for work, its a tangled web the Army weaves.  Other than that, we've been learning this parenting thing and embracing it.

My sister and cousin came down this weekend.  It was so great to see them and have those chats & laughs, I really needed it.  I can't believe we didn't take any pictures, very unlike us.  The weekends have actually been filled, the weekend before this past one Sabrina came into town with Grayson.  So I got to meet those two along with Juliet, Braeden and Jon.  Let me just say I love them all & was thrilled that they were every bit as awesome IRL as online!  Maybe sometime early next year I can fly out to Texas to see Sabrina on her turf.  I'll have to see Juliet earlier, she's moving to Germany (I'm super jealous).  I don't really see our weekends getting less hectic, this weekend coming up I think Cam's parents are trying to come and then its Thanksgiving, so the holiday nonsense will be in full swing.
